Waiting on Wednesday: Luminous

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine where you can spotlight a book you're giddy with excitement to read so other people can be giddy with excitement :)

Luminous by Dawn Metcalf
Release Date: 7 July 2011
Publisher: Dutton Childrens Books
When sixteen-year-old Consuela discovers she can remove her skin, revealing a lustrous mother-of-pearl skeleton, she slips into a parallel world known as the Flow, a place inhabited by archetypal teens with extraordinary abilities. Crafting skins out of anything – air, water, feathers, fire – she is compelled to save ordinary people from dying before their time. Yet now someone is murdering them, one by one, and Consuela finds herself the focus of an intricate plot to end the Flow forever when all she really wants is to get back home, alive.

The cover is what first attracted me to this oddly brilliant book. How pretty is Luminous?? And the story itself... wow. Not only is it a beautifully unique addition to the YA market, but so cool! I haven't read any other story like it, which makes me incredibly excited to get my hands on a copy in July.

What book are you beating your head against a wall to hurry up and release already?

  2. I love the cover too! And Dawn is one of the nicest authors around! :) It kind of reminds me of Bleeding Violet with the whole 'otherworld' thing going on. But I'm sure this will be different!
