2012 Author Interview & Giveaway: Andrew Fukuda

You still have a little time to enter to win an ARC of LIES BENEATH by Anne Greenwood Brown! I'll end the giveaway Monday 12th December 11:59pm US EST. Hurry!

Introducing apocalyptic author #5.... who's smart enough to already be set in his Apocalyptic survival routine, probably inspired by his creepy dystopian, Andrew Fukuda!

Why should Santa fill every stocking next year with a copy of The Hunt?
Hmmm... maybe he shouldn't fill every stocking - it might give the young ones terrible nightmares for weeks! That said, I think The Hunt has wide appeal - young adult and young-at-heart adults (male and female!) will find much to enjoy in it! I suspect Santa might find himself short a few copies on Christmas Eve on account of those pesky elves filching copies for themselves.

What is the best or worst Christmas gift you've ever received?
Best Christmas gift: a Christmas card from my two toddler sons. Chicken scratch handwriting and the most hideous depiction of a human face ever (me) - but it meant the world to me.

What's been your favourite YA novel of 2011?
Not sure if this is YA (maybe more like MG), but Wildwood by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis was a magical dark journey of a read.

And your most desperately needed of 2012?
Heather Anastasiu's Glitch, releasing in 2012, looks very promising.

Do you have any plans to survive and/or fight in the 2012 Apocalypse? (this covers any apocalyptic belief-system... zombies, aliens, mother nature seeking revenge, assassin automatons, Klaus and his hybrids from The Vampire Diaries, etc).
Read, read, write, write, read, read, write, write, run, read, write, run. Much like my life now, come to think of it.

In a world where humans have been eaten to near extinction, seventeen-year-old Gene has only managed to survive by painstakingly concealing his true species. If the bloodthirsty creatures surrounding him knew what he really was—a human—he would be devoured swiftly and terribly. When Gene is chosen to participate in the government-sponsored hunt for the last remaining humans, it thrusts him into the fight of his life—and into the path of a human girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible. Now, he must learn the art of the hunt and elude his fellow hunters whose suspicions about his true human nature are growing. But most importantly, Gene and the girl he loves must find a way to forge a life together in a brutal world that’s bent on their destruction.

With his propulsive plot and highly developed characters, readers will find it impossible to resist the vivid world Andrew Fukuda has created in this stunning standout debut. Readers craving a book that grips and mesmerizes them like The Hunger Games will love The Hunt.

    4. I feel like I have been waiting on The Hunt like forever(maybe because I added to my wishlist back in March LOL).

Great interview and awesome giveaway, Brodie :) I love the sound of that drawing Andrew got. My best Christmas present is also one from my oldest child, a teacup our oldest decorated in kindergarten a couple of years back.
