In My Mailbox #28

In My Mailbox is a weekly feature hosted by the wonderful The Story Siren where we get to drool with one another over the awesome books that came in the post this week.

There's many mixed reviews for Melody Burning on goodreads, but it does sound intriguing, so I hope I like it! I love the idea of The Future of Us, so I'm really looking forward to that. And the Aussie cover looks so cool!

Until last night, I had never watched Up. Shameful, I know!! What is wrong with me?! Aw, Carl and Ellie <3 I haven't really watched any animated movies over the past few years, so I seriously have a lot to catch up on. Any recommendations for good ones?

I own Harry Potter Film Wizardry, but I wanted to check out Page to Screen from the library before I bought it because it's sells at nearly $100 in Australia, which is a lot of money for a book. But whoa, it's HUGE. I've just started reading it and I definitely think it's a book I want as a keepsake. And it is so detailed!

This little passage made me awww. This was during their very first press conference after being cast, but already showed the sweet bond developing between the trio:
I remember Emma and Rupert being very, very sweet when one of the journalists, presumably knowing that I didn’t know the books too well, asked a question like, ‘Who is Tom Marvolo Riddle, really?’ I had no idea. But I was also aware that both Emma and Rupert were writing down the answer next to me and trying to slide it across the table - like the world’s press weren’t going to notice? But it was very sweet and a good day.

What's in your mailbox this week?

  1. HARRY POTTER <3 Holy crap! $100? That's soo expensive! (But then again, it's freaking HARRY POTTER we're talking about! So, in a way, it's worth it!) Awwww..that was so sweet of them!
Haha, don't worry,I haven't watched UP yet either(despite my friends constantly telling me just how cute & amazing it is!) I received Melody Burning & The Future Of Us as well - not so sure about Melody Burning anymore...apparently there's insta-love? *sigh* but TFOU definitely sounds interesting :D
    ENJOY <3

  3. I watched UP like, at the cinemas, the week it came out. Or sometime around then. When I went I even got a keychain of the dog! XD Anyway, no shame in not having seen it beforehand. I tried watching it again, but it falls flat after the first playthrough. At least in my opinion...

Still love that little weiner kid.

I've heard so many mixed reviews on BOTH books, but I'm such a big fan of Jay's that I honestly WILL enjoy it anyway. Did you get it for review? Hmm, I wonder if Tina's sending it to me; if not I may have to grab a copy for myself but there's no point in getting two copies in the end...Shoop.

And yeah, I don't want to read Melody Rising. It sounded interesting at first, with the whole thriller action in the apartment thing, but the insta-love is just a insta-turn-off.

Love that little paragraph you quoted. Very sweet indeed!

    Happy reading!

  4. Sorry, I meant Caroline (S&S), not Tina (Penguin). I got confused because Braiden got a copy of TFOU in a gift bag for the BTL event (?)...

  5. Yeah, the insta-love thing in Melody is worrying :/ I requested it ages ago from A&U, but now I've read reviews... little unsure. I'm hoping it will surprise me in a good way.

@Shirley: It is expensive! And being the cheapskate I am, I don't like paying that just for one book haha. But also being the HP nerd I am, well... me wants :D

@Cass: Ha, that little kid was so adorable. The whole talking dog element was a bit eh, but I really enjoyed the rest of it.

LOL you're still getting your Penguin/S&S mixed up.... BTL event was Penguin. Braiden either got it at The Black Hand Ball or that 2012 publisher preview he went to. But yes, I got a copy from Caroline! I requested it when she sent out the Jan newsletter, so not sure if she's sending unsolicited copies.

  6. WHOA! That Harry Potter From Page to Screen book looks huge. That passage is adorable. I am going to see if my library has it because it's about the same here in Canada.

I enjoyed the Future of Us mostly do to the fact I remembered all the stuff from the 90's in the book.

I haven't heard much about Melody Burning, so I am excited to see your review and what you think.

  8. Harry Potter! Man, I was eyeing that book up on Amazon, but it's so expensive! That little excerpt from it is so cute though :P. And yay, The Future of Us! It sounds great, hope you enjoy it (and you got the cool cover :P). UP is awesome. Such a good film. I definitely recommend Tangled, as well, if you haven't seen it! And haven't heard much about Melody Burning, but the cover is pretty! Happy reading :).

  13. I didn't realize that there was a Harry Potter from page to film - tome of a book! Gosh, that looks amazing. I know one should not judge a book by its cover, but that cover, whoa.

The Future of Us also looks very interesting - although I haven't heard of that one yet. UP is one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm sure you'd have a lovely time watching it.
