2012 Author Interview & Giveaway: Beth Fantaskey!

This is the final interview + giveaway for The Event I Was Too Lazy To Name. It ended up spilling over into the first couple of weeks of 2012, but I don't think many will complain since hey, more awesome authors! :) Thank you all for reading, commenting and entering the amazing giveways, even though I'm ridiculously jealous of many of the winners. Full list of winners will be posted next week once this giveaway is over. I hope you've all learnt some useful survival tips, I wish you all good luck in the Apocalypse!

Introducing 2012 author #9, who's well planned for when the army of assassin automatons strike humanity, Beth Fantaskey!
Why should Santa fill every stocking next year with a copy of Jessica Rules the Dark Side?
I think Santa should include my book in his pack because it's funny and intensely romantic and suspenseful... Just what people need to make a long winter's night pass quickly!

What is the best or worst Christmas gift you've ever received?
My family has a tradition of passing around an oven-rack puller with the word "Texas" burned into the handle. Every year someone gets it - and in the excitement of opening gifts, we always forget that it's going to turn up. Because it's completely stupid, and yet so sentimental, it's at once the best and worst gift I've ever received.

What's been your favourite YA novel of 2011?
Oh, gosh... I didn't read any! I'm working on a doctoral dissertation about female crime reporters of the 1920s, so all I read about are mobsters and journalists.

And your most desperately needed of 2012?
Since I don't have a book to name, I'm going to say a finished dissertation, so I can start reading other stuff!

Do you have any plans to survive and/or fight in the 2012 Apocalypse? (this covers any apocalyptic belief-system... zombies, aliens, mother nature seeking revenge, assassin automatons, Klaus and his hybrids from The Vampire Diaries, etc).
I am perpetually on the lookout for assassin automatons, so I am definitely ready to fight those. If anything else shows up, I guess we're going to grab a can opener, our large stock of Chef Boyardee products, and hunker down in the basement until things calm down.

When Jessica Packwood found out she was a Romanian vampire princess, she had the shock of her teenage life.  Turns out that was the easy part.  Now, married to Prince Lucius Vladescu, she has to claim her throne and convince a vampire nation she’s fit to be their queen.  But Jess can’t even order a decent meal from her castle’s Romanian staff, let alone deal with devious undead subjects who would love to see her fail.

And when Lucius is accused of murdering a vampire Elder and imprisoned without the blood he needs, Jessica finds herself alone, fighting for both their survivals.  Desperate to clear her husband’s name and win his release, Jess enlists the help of her best friend Mindy Stankowicz and Lucius’s mysterious Italian cousin, Raniero Lovatu.  But both of them are keeping some dark secrets.  Can Jess figure out who to trust – and how to  rise to power – before she loses everything, including the vampire she loves?

Full of romance, mystery, and danger, the highly anticipated sequel to Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side shows that sometimes a princess has to earn her “happily ever after” – with a sharpened stake in hand.
Jessica Rules the Dark Side is released January 10th 2012 by Harcourt Children's books
