In My Mailbox #32

In My Mailbox is a weekly feature hosted by the wonderful The Story Siren where we get to drool with one another over the awesome books that came in the post this week

Um, can I say SQUEE?! HELLO AMAZING MAILBOX!!

BLOODROSE! BORN WICKED! I have been itching to get my hands on both of these books. I've only just started Bloodrose (a little terrified to read on, actually) and then I shall be meet one Mr. Finn belestra. I finished Goddess Interrupted the other day and eeeep, who saw that cliffhanger coming?! (and yes, that is the gorgeous Australian cover pictured above!). I bought The Iron Queen for myself last week to soothe the devestation of an empty mailbox. Then I promptly reread the ending and cue more devestation *sob*

A huge thanks to Brigid Kemmerer for the ARC of Storm!! AND she was so kind to throw in four signed cover jackets! One I will be keeping for myself and the other three? *PLOTS* Since my ARC will be included in one of the prize packs from mine and Lisa's Valentine's Blog Event once I've read it (it's signed too, by the way!), I'm thinking of doing something with these just after Feb so I can continue to force this book on you all :D So excited to read it!

And now a shoutout to one of the most crazy awesome Psychotic Sidekick's in ze the world. Sarah from saz101! She recommended I watch Scott Pilgrim because a) it's apparently awesome and v) there is a vegan villain!!! So I will hopefully watch that over the weekend. And just because she likes topping her own levels of coolness, she sent me these SUPER ADORKABLE psychotic vegetable stickers! You know, because I'm a vegan and she's a vegetarian and we're both a little cracked in the head :) Anyone else think brocolli looks like Voldy? The eyes and no-nose and scary teeth! (I know, my phone doesn't take super clear photos). And evil pea minions!! THANK YOU SARAH <3

    1. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I wasn't expecting it until March and then it came early AND I SQUEEED. Except I have accidentally read a huge spoiler already and while I pulled out large chunks of my hair, I'm still loving the book so far :D

I have yet to read a negative review of Born Wicked and I'm almost positive it will live up to the hype for me!

And yes, I've read all the Iron Fey series! The last two in particular, were my absolute FAVOURITES! My gosh, the way they tore at my heart. And Ash... in the last chapters of TIK... GUUUHHHH!!! Have you read them?

      Delete
    2. Hahahahahaha, oh good job. ;) Oh well, since you're reading the book you would have found out about the 'spoiler' anyway. Heh.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR REVIEW FOR IT. :D I need to get my hands on it sometime. It sounds like such an amazing book!

NOOO I haven't read them yet. D: D: I really need to though. I'm planning to buy the series sometime soon once I've got the cash. Everything I've heard about it has been AMAZING and I'm also looking forward to her new series!

    3. But... but... it's an end spoiler and it's big and it's not good and it's... okay, don't get distraught again, Brodie. DEEP BREATHS.

Don't worry, if/when I love, I will gush and then use my powers of book seduction on you to force you into buying a copy :D

  10. Would you believe that I still haven’t read Nightshade?! I really need to get a move on because the Bloodrose cover is wonderful and I want it on my bookshelf NOW!

I love Scott Pilgrim! People always ask me if I have psychic vegan powers since Todd in SP does! (Also: I had no idea you were a vegan too! *high-five*)

    1. Ahh, you need to read Nightshade asap! Such a fantastic series and in Nightshade especially, I love the atmosphere Andrea creates.

Oh my gosh, another Aussie vegan book blogger?! How come we've all been hiding the most awesome parts of ourselves from each other?! haha. Psychic vegan powers? Okay, I REALLY can't wait to watch this now :D

*bounces* I wish I had multiple brains, I want to read all of these at once!

      Delete
    2. ... Multiple brains, you say? This thought has somehow NEVER occurred to me before... But I think you might be onto something... Plus, it'd be a perfect evil genius project :O

Hmmm... I wonder where we can find donors/'volunteers'?

      Delete
    3. You'd have to have a pretty big head during the initial stages until we learn how to make brains smaller, yet still holding as much power (like how computers have gotten smaller and yet more intelligent).

I think the words 'donor' and 'volunteer' will be used very loosely... afterall, we'd only accept the most advanced brains. And most smart people wouldn't exactly take part willingly.... time to call in the Peons for a mission!

  31. HOLY COW BABIES, Storm looks soooo good. I can't wait to find out what you think! And my order of Born Wicked should be getting to me next week, and, Brodie, I think it's been well-established how badly I've wanted this book. So *dies* at the sight of your copy.

TIQ is fabulous, 'nuff said. But you need to let me know how the Ren-ness is in Bloodrose. I have the first two books, but I haven't had the inspiration to read book 2. I've heard this a giant lack of Ren in that one :(

    Anyway, ENJOY, my lovely! <3333
