Owl Post #5

 
Inspired by The Story Siren's In My Mailbox, Owl Post allows me to excitedly share all the yummy books I get in the mail each week! Owl's are much faster and more reliable than sneaky postmen, and the common way for magical folk to send and receive letters and parcels. Yes. I went to Hogwarts. Be jealous.


SPARKSPARKSPARKSPARKSPARK! Massive, gushing thanks to Brigid for sending me these. I LOVE THAT WOMAN. She was super nice and signed a copy to me <3 The other is being sent around to some awesome Aussies. Did you know Spark is available to request on NetGalley?! Go, go, go!!! If you're Aussie and can't read from NG, shoot me an email and I'll get the others to send the ARC to you once they read it. I finished this the other day and freaking LOVE. My review will be up next week, but oh Gabriel Merrick; he made me swoon and broke my heart. Repeatedly. Every chapter. If you don't already have this book preordered, GO DO IT NOW.

And while you're at it, grab Stormdancer! I posted my review of this amazing novel yesterday. Steampunk, fantasy, Japanese culture + mythology, creepy villain, incredible heroine and A THUNDER TIGER NAMED BURUU. What is not to love?

I started Unravelling today. I only read a teeny tiny bit, but I am EXCITED to dig in properly!! I have yet to read a single negative review. Shadows is by an Aussie author (yay!) and features some angel/demon action, something I always love. The heroine kills demons and other hell-spawn every night in her dreams. Sound badass or what?? Hopefully will get to this soon!

Struck has been on my radar since forever. The heroine is a LIGHTENING ADDICT. That's insane, but so freaking cool. I put The Shadow Reader on hold at my library ages ago and naturally it comes in when my TBR is toppling. I have no idea if I'll get to read this before it gets returned, but I hope so because I've heard great things about it. Any of you guys read it?

    11. Ahem... well, first is the obvious, with Gabriel letting off steam. The second is Chris and his oddly spaced black twins (once you notice, it's the FIRST thing you see on the cover from now on. Seriously). And the third suggests Hunter unzipped his fly and let things dangle. You really have to look close for that one, BUT I SEE IT (shut up, it is not Chris's hand).

      Can you tell we've all studied this cover way too much? :P

    And I seriously thought I read “Brodie” as “Braiden”... seriously, our names looks so similar looking at it that small. So I was like... AHHHH! and then was like effffff! haha! Woo can’t wait to begin it soon!

  4. Who is excited for The Golden Lily? OF COURSE I AM!!!! Hahaha. My preorder has come in for it . . . so hopefully my copy is sent off really, really soon.

    Anyway your owls are amazing little things for bringing you those books. I finished Unravelling the other day . . . not too bad. But I really hope you enjoy Struck & The Shadow Reader which are both AWESOME reads! But damn you for getting Stormdancer . . . I'm dying for that book since I'm a huge lover of Japan and Steampunk. *evil glare* haha.

    1. FINGERS CROSSED! I saw Random house AUS tweet that they shipped out copies of Rapture to stores early because of the public holiday, so it may be available to buy on the weekend. I've been wondering if Penguin did that with The Golden Lily aswell? I might ring up Kmart/Big W tomorrow and see..... DYING WITH WANT!!

    1. SQUEEEEE! ADRIAN!!! Oh man, I am so freaking excited to finally read it. Bloodlines seems like so long away. Although I am scared of the crazy cliffhanger Richelle will leave us on with this... and then we all know how she kills in her third books. AHHH JUST GIVE US THE WHOLE SERIES ALREADY.

      You did NOT just ask that question. Which is BETTER? LISA!!! It's impossible to pick a favourite, I seriously love them both equally! They both offer something different and both are books I could reread all day long. Spark really digs deep emotionally... for both the characters AND us. Seriously, you will FEEL THINGS. It's sexy too ;) I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO READ IT. It's everything we wanted plus MOOORE.

      Hehehe <3 OH MY GOD, YES. This series is just... AFHILNJDASDJSFKH. I just love when a set of books come along and sweep you off your feet and you're so INVESTED in the characters lives. I've missed getting hooked on a set of books so much that I go crazy anticipating release <3 So sad when it comes to a close!

  14. I read Spark this week too! (in one night) from Netgallery too. It was amazing, fabulous and exciting! So jealous that you got it signed.
    And the Golden Lily! Its epic, Adrian is amazing and I'm still reminiscing my favorite scenes! The ending is so heartwarming. I hope you enjoy TGL!

I mean the whole asian setting thing is enough to have me adding it to my wishlist! Unravelling and Struck sound so badass too, especially what you said about the whole lightning addict thing because damn, I can already tell the MC is going to be totally butt-kicking :D Fantastic haul this week! I know how much you love Gabriel (and I know how much he loves you too LOL <3), so I your review for it is the one that I'm anticipating the MOST! :)

    And THE GOLDEN LILY. I would trade my soul in for a copy of that (and a glimpse of Adrian!) right now!!
