Owl Post #12

Inspired by The Story Siren's In My Mailbox, Owl Post allows me to excitedly share all the yummy books I get in the mail each week! Owl's are much faster and more reliable than sneaky postmen, and the common way for magical folk to send and receive letters and parcels. Yes. I went to Hogwarts. Be jealous.

I SPY.... BRODIE READING A MELINA MARCHETTA BOOK. Yeah, I'm officially a legit booknerd now. They also reinstated my Australian citizenship. Yay!

I hadn't even heard of this until it arrived in the mail, but mystery, paranormal and romance? Yup, sounds like my kind of read!

I loved The Iron Fey series (after so many of you poked and proded and stabbed at me to read them), so I've been eagerly awaiting the chance to see Ethan all grown up. I'm not very far in yet, but fingers crossed I LOVE!

I'm way better keeping up with tv shows than I am movies. I never saw this at the cinema (I haven't even seen Thor yet! The horror! The horror!) so I grabbed it at my library to see what the fuss was about. Woo! Anyone a fan?

What have the owls delivered to you this week?

Look at me, I'm a note! At the bottom of a post! And not really important! But read me anyway!

Ugh, I know. A whole week without a review or even a post. I either don't have time, or when I do have time, I don't have the motivation to write. When I have both the time and motivation, I'm struggling to stare at the computer screen long enough because it's not so friendly on my eyes. I'm getting long-overdue glasses in a few weeks, so hopefully that will solve one of three problems!

I'm also taking advantage of this excuse to explain why I am so far behind commenting on your blogs! And responding to emails. And pretty much doing anything that requires a certain amount of effort on my behalf. ANYWHO. Leave me a link and kick up the ass!

  3. Finally! You decided to pick up a Melina Marchetta book! Now you are officially Australian. :D I really hope you love it, Brodie! I can't wait to see what you think. :)

And yay for The Lost Prince! I'll be reading my copy soon so I'm looking forward to comparing thoughts.

Aww I know what it's like to struggle with reviews! Lack of time is the main culprit, but my laziness does invade occasionally. ;)

  4. I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of The Lost Prince too, with another ARC copy of Sacrifice by Cayla Kluver (which I totally can't wait to read). HarlequinTeen Australia is pretty awesome, right? :)

    Anyway happy reading!

  5. Enjoy The Avengers! It's a lot of fun and Robert Downey Jr is the best part of the movie! <3

I have The Lost Prince to review as well and I am hoping to read it soon. I love your cover so much better than the US/Canada cover.

Also you must read Jellicoe Road at some point. You'll love it.

Um, yeah. I haven't read any Melina Marchetta either (there goes any blogger cred I had...) but at least I'M not Australian LOL. I hope you like it!

YAY I LOVED THE AVENGERS <3 Soooo good. But omg Brodie O_O You have to watch Thor. Like right now. RIGHT. NOW.

  8. Great owl post! :D

Don't worry, if it helps I haven't read Finnikin on the Rock yet either!!! *cowers* lol but I have read Melina before - Looking for Alibrandi is one of my faves :D haha lovely lot of books there.

And don't worry, your side note is totally how I feel right now. I'm in such a slump - blogging and writing wise, that's it's not good! Plus I'm sick. Cough cough.

  9. I received The Edge of Nowhere this week too, and like you, I hadn't heard of it before it showed up. Sounds pretty good, though! :)

  10. I can't wait to start The Lost Prince but I have to lol I need to read some other stuff first. I've heard great things about Finnikin of the Rock! Happy reading and thanks for stopping by!

  11. FINNIKIN! :D It's AWESOME! I hope you like it! :D Plus, THE AVENGERS! Awesomeee! Well, actually the first half was kind of boring, but the second half is really good. It's all rather typical of a superhero movie, but it was awesome anyway! ;) I haven't seen Thor either, Brodie! Or Iron Man...or Captain America...or Iron Man II... *hides* I have movies to catch up on too though, so don't worry! I'll only be mad if you haven't seen the Christopher Nolan Batman Trilogy. (Best. Movies. EVER! I mean...Christian Bale! What could go wrong?) ;) Enjoy your haul this week, Brodie! :D

  15. *hands Brodie her OFFICIAL Australian citizenship*

YAY!!! *throws confetti* You are finally reading a Melina Marchetta book! I haven't read Finnikin unfortunately but I've read On the Jellicoe Road, Saving Francesca and The Piper's Son which I all loved and adored!

The Lost Prince! We all know how awesome The Iron Fey series is so I can't wait to read this book. Plus, it's written from Ethan's POV!

THE AVENGERS! IRON MAN IS AMAZING. Enough said.

Awesome haul this week, Brodie! ♥ Hope you enjoy them all!

  16. THE AVENGERS IS AMAZING! I've not seen Thor, or any of the Iron Man movies, or much of anything else either. (Though I did see the Hulk movie where Stark made a cameo at the end, but... different guy playing Bruce, so I'm not really counting it). The Avengers is FUNNY! SO FUNNY! I need to watch the Iron Man movies, because Stark is hilarious!

I have The Edge of Nowhere too, but I got mine last week. It sounds awesome, doesn't it?! And, um, Melina Marchetta... is it bad that I have no clue who she is? :S I guess I can be let off as I'm not Australian, but from what you said, it sounds like she's pretty big Down Under, so I would have thought I would at least have heard a smidgen of her, considering the Aussie blogs I stalk. Lol.

HAPPY READING! And here is my First Class Post :)

  17. Melina Marchetta! I've heard so many good things about Finnikin of the Rock, can't wait to hear what you think of it. And oooh The Lost Prince! Very excited to start that one. Happy reading :).

  18. THE AVENGERRRRRRS! Brodie, it's a FANTASTIC film. Thor is NOT, but... entertaining. In any case, I hadn't seen Thor before I saw The Avengers and it still made sense :)

If you've seen Iron Man and you're more or less familiar with Hulk and S.H.I.E.L.D. myth it might help, but meh. It is the most INSANELY fun movie. plus, it's written by my man Joss Whedon ♥♥♥
