Owl Post #17

Inspired by The Story Siren's In My Mailbox, Owl Post allows me to excitedly share all the yummy books I get in the mail each week! Owl's are much faster and more reliable than sneaky postmen, and the common way for magical folk to send and receive letters and parcels.

I won a giveaway from Youth Central for a Hot Key YA book pack, which includes all the novels you see except Possessed, Dance of Shadows and Mara Dyer. EVERYONE has been raving about The Vincent Boys and I'm dying to see why! I just hope it will live up to my huge expectations ;) Also came with a bad boy/good guy bookmark.
I've been wanting to read more historical and/or books centered around war lately, so what perfect timing to get this! A romance set in such scary times? You have Brodie hook, line and sinker.

Angel Dust by Sarah Mussi
I love me an angel read, so I'm willing to give this a try and see what it offers. Hopefully something fresh and captivating! Anyone read it?

I have been excited to read this! It's set in the 17th century and there's astronomy and romance and it sounds like a beautiful coming of age/destiny-or-freewill story.

Possessed by Niki Valentine
Never heard of this prior to receiving it for review and I haven't seen too many raving opinions, but it does sound interesting. And my ears always perk up at "psychological thriller."

Some of you might remember me reviewing this earlier this year. Well, perhaps ''fangirling" is more appropriate :) If you haven't read it already, I highly recommend!

Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black
This came with a bottle of nail polish and a polaroid to emphasise the mystery of "Where is Margaret Adler?" Gorgeous cover, too! I'm not usually a big fan of reading dance books, but it sounds delightfully creepy and I *think* there's a supernatural twist?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finished this yesterday and.... excuse me while I go curl up in a corner and DIE. Everything I've come to expect from Hodkin; creepiness, nail-biting suspense, WTFery, shocking surprise and good god, Noah Shaw. *drops to knees and worships*

What goodies have the owls delivered to you this week?

  1. *pushes Brodie out of the way and worships Noah instead* We've been over this Brodie!

So glad you LOVED Evolution though. *Dies* I can't wait for book three. I am dying and praying they will have ARCs.

I got an eARC of Dance of Shadows. It looks creepy and like it could be awesome. So glad we are both going to read it.

I haven't heard of The Possessed before, but it mentions Black Swan and I did love the WTFery of that movie.

Excellent book haul this week! Enjoy!

And Insignia, I've only read raving, gushing reviews of that one! It sounds terrific and I'm glad you bought yourself a finished copy, Brodie - it looks all shiny and gorgeous. :)
Enjoy, my darling! Go indulge yourself and take pleasure in acquiring an AWESOME book haul while the rest of us are trailing behind you in the mud, pouting and scowling and complaining.

  4. BRODIE! I STILL NEED TO READ INSIGNIA! I SHOULD FEEL ASHASMED OF MYSELF... maybe not then since the Friday before last at work's Christmas Gala I recommended Insignia to this 13 yo boy BECAUSE OF YOU!!! And the fact that it's an 'intergalactic World War 3'!!

I too got Possessed this week. Not sure much about it, though I think it's Adult if I'm not mistaken. And since you love Mara Dyer too I should read it shouldn't I?

  6. Yay for a finished copy of Insignia, I know how much you loved it :D I've been wanting to read The Vincent Boys for a long time now but since I'm not an ebook reader and it's only just released in paperback I've yet to read it. I'm sure I will though since I already know I'm getting a copy for Christmas. Let's hope the hype lives up to our expectations! Dance of Shadows looks intriguing and pretty cover alert!

  7. ummm. HELLO VINCENT BOYS COVER. Is that the Australian version, because that cover is SO much cooler than the US version. Not that the US one isn't fantastic... because it is. BUT WOW. And Possessed does look pretty interesting. I've never heard about it either.. but who knows, it might be amazing!

  11. Fantastic haul, Brodie! I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU HAVING THE PAPERBACK OF THE VINCENT BOYS! I have the "new and uncensored" ebook, but I much prefer paperbacks. But I am so super excited to get reading it. It sounds AWESOME!

I also have Angel Dust and Jepp in my TBR pile. SO looking forward to Jepp, and Angel Dust... intrigued by the angel, but a little worried about the edgy side of it. Not too sure whether it'll be my cup of tea or not.

INSIGNIA! EEEE! :D Oooh, it's a Hot Key one, right? Look on the inside cover - IT'S ME! Whoop! Sorry. :) I am really looking forward to trying Dance of Shadows. I'm not sure if I'll like it, but I'm willing to give it a go!

I still haven't read any Mara Dyer, though I do have book 1 and have requested book 2 :)

    Happy reading, lovely!
