Owl Post #14

Inspired by The Story Siren's In My Mailbox, Owl Post allows me to excitedly share all the yummy books I get in the mail each week! Owl's are much faster and more reliable than sneaky postmen, and the common way for magical folk to send and receive letters and parcels.

I think every second person and their Aunt Marge has read this book... AND LOVED IT. I am so excited to finally sample some of the Miranda Kenneally genius!

I haven't read too many reviews for this, so I'm sort of going in blind in terms of reader opinion. The summary, however, sounds AWESOME and the kind of book I love. Fingers crossed!

I haven't read the Blue Bloods series, but that awesome girl Erin informed me I can read this without having read BB (but I still should read BB because they're brilliant). So I'm giving this a go next!

This was an unexpected review copy. I think it's one of those 'Choose your own adventure' type stories, which I LOVED when I was younger, but don't really indulge in these days. Still, maybe it'll be a fun book to slip in amongst others? Won't promise it, but we'll see!

Holy crap, how AMAZING DOES THIS SOUND?! I haven't even read or fully watched Alice in Wonderland (I know, I know, tie me to a stake and roast me over an open fire), but I know the basics and this sounds like a deliciously dark companion to the original. Every early review I've seen has GUSHED.

What have those hardworking owls delivered to you this week?

  1. OMG! Splintered. *WANTS* I hope you love it.

Catching Jordan is really good, and I just finished the companion novel Stealing Parker and it's just as wonderful. Really excited for your review.

You always have amazing owl posts! Pretty sure it's because you are awesome.

  2. YES YOU GOT CATCHING JORDAN! :D You're going to love it, Brodie, I just know it!(: I've been on the fence about starting Skylark or requesting Splintered since I'm not a big Alice in Wonderland fan, so I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about it. I haven't heard of Wolf Pact before, but I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of the Blue Bloods Series. I loved the first two...three?...books and after that the romance took over and I lost interest. I hope you have better luck with it though! Wonderful haul this week, dear! :D

  3. Catching Jordan looks so freaking fantastic!! I've heard great things about Skylark as well. I love the cover for Wolf Pact!! I got Splintered a couple of weeks ago, I can't wait to read it. Great books this week, happy reading!

  4. Catching Jordan was SO good, I really hope you enjoy it. I haven't heard of the other ones you got, but they all sound pretty great. :D

Hope you enjoy all your books!

  5. Ooooo, the owls were good to you this week! Blood of the Zombies sounds fun, and I am starting to drool over Splintered as I'm hearing nothing but raves. Enjoy all of your lovely, lovely new books!

    My books.

  6. Great owl post. I've been meaning to read Catching Jordan despite the mixed reviews. I'm kind of jealous that you're getting to read Splintered . . . totally want that book! Happy reading!

  7. Yes I LOVED Catching Jordan! I'm very curious about Skylark. Sounds different!

  8. Catching Jordan sounds amazing, you must tell me what you think! I've been wanting to read it for while and need to get my grabby hands on a copy soon! Splintered sounds intriguing, let's hope you'll be joining the gushed up, list of fans!

Awesome book haul! Enjoy all your books :D

  9. I received Splintered this week and everything about it sounds SPECTACULAR. The cover and title are to drool for, and I love the bizarre, wonderful premise. WAIT WHAT YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALICE IN WONDERLAND? The classical Disney version or the Tim Burton one? The latter I'll forgive you.. the former, just no.

    ;D Kidding! You're completely awesome, Brodie. :)

Skylark and Catching Jordan both sound great... And I'm not a Blue Bloods fan at all, but I hope you enjoy Wolf Pact. :) Amazing haul and happy reading!

  10. u must see alice in wondrland . enjoy all

  11. OMG SPLINTERED DROOOL ZONE!!!! I LOVED IT! Number one GUSHER in the house. EVERYONE READ IT!!!! haha great owl post Brodie!!And you got Catching Jordan from your library? Well jealous. I didn't even think it was available in AU unless you went Amazon or TBD or another online site!

Anyway, back to fangirling SPLINTERED. OMg omg omg omg SOOO GOOD! Can't wait to hear what you think!

  12. I too got Blood of the Zombies but wasn’t too crash hot for it and decided to not show it this week lol. It was a surprise but I saw it and I was like... eh... another book I won’t get around to.

I found Skylark very very meh. Probably how you felt about Defiance.

  13. AWESOME Haul Brodie :)
    Catching Jordan sounds amazing

  14. I just finished Catching Jordan the other day and thought it was only mediocre, but I'm obviously the odd one out on that one. I can't wait to read your review!
Skylark looks pretty great too. :)
    Happy reading.

  15. BRODIE BRODIE BRODIE BRODIE BROOOOOODIEEEE! So many purdy books! Skylark and Splintered look awesome, as does Wolf Pact. The cover reminds my SO much of Night School--even the lettering.

  16. I WILL tie you to a stake and roast you over an open fire. WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING YOUR WHOLE LIFE?! You need to get onto Alice in Wonderland ASAP! :D

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Wolf Pact. The BB books were a little shrug-your-shoulders for me, so I'm not in any rush to get around to this one yet. Oh and I've heard such great things about Catching Jordan and Skylark. Hope you enjoy reading them! :)

    Wonderful haul Brodie!

  17. So many GREAT books this week Brodie! And OMG. I've been wanting to read SPLINTERED for AGES!!!! It looks sooo good!
    And Catching Jordan!!

I also have Wolf Pact but haven't read the BB series! Maybe I should give it a go too?

Lucky little owls you had this week my dear! :D

  18. Awesome haul, Brodie! I received Wolf Pact a few weeks ago, looking forward to giving it a go. Um, I haven't read - or heard of, I think - Catching Jordan, but I'm intrigued! I look forward to your review! Happy reading!

  19. OMG you got SKYLARK?? *tones down voice* Um, sorry. I was just excited!! I've heard so many amazing things about it - I really do hope that you like it! And SPLINTERED?????? EEEEEP!! *hugs* Happy reading brodie!

  20. I haven't read Catching Jordan, I feel like we are the only once! I hope it's as good as we've heard, Brodie :D

  21. I NEED to read Catching Jordan! I can't wait to hear what you think. I've been trying to stay away from spoilers and reviews until I can get my hands on it, but I'm totally expecting to love it because of all the hype.

I *HATE* Alice in Wonderland (it caused me a lot of trauma in my childhood) but I'm soooo excited for Splintered! It sounds AMAZING.

  22. Hey hey Brodie! Haven't been around, need to do some catch up on Google Reader. You'll be seeing some more comments from me in your earlier posts soon, I'm sure. :P

Anyway, OMG Splintered looks so great. I haven't read Alice in Wonderland (I have a copy of it though! ><), but I have watched one of the film adaptations, so that's something. And Catching Jordan! I really want to read that one. Seriously have heard too many great things about it! Happy reading, chickie~ :D

  23. So excited for Splintered! and I always hear awesome things about Catching Jordan - had it on my TBR for ages but have yet to read it. Wolf Pact sounds great too - happy reading :).

    I WANT IT...

  25. I keep requesting Splintered, but they keep declining. IT'S KILLING ME.
